Mythbuster

We were chaos in the vacuum of reality
Tossed against one another in violent gasps
of physical neglect and emotional solitude
Kindred spirits in words that seduced
and glances that intoxicated every blink

A silent battle covered our hearts with ash
Anchoring our tongues in cold retreat
(from each other)
The most deadly weapon was separation
Victory was a lonely ache in defeat

I clung to the magic of mythology and waited
Believing that our love would rise like the Phoenix
My hope startled every time the breeze stirred the dust
The cold drizzle of rejection mocking me
And yet, I still wait and create sand castles of false fate

I look to the horizon of an ocean that is no longer blue
Seeking answers that belong only to you
